Mountain View

As you walk onto campus the beautiful sites that attract most people's eyes are the tall brick buildings or the beautiful residential halls. However, I urge you to walk over towards Shellenberger Field to a corner of it just as you approach Shackelford Hall.   As you face Shackelford Hall just before you turn the bend, stop to look out to the right.  Between the trees you can see one of the prettiest views from Lynchburg College campus: the Blue Ridge Mountains.  The vast mountains that you look out over are like a metaphor for the vast opportunities at Lynchburg College.

The mountains are vast and go on for what seems forever, but must end somewhere just like college. All the trails that cover the mountains are like the different paths people take in college.  Each path represents each student's own footprints they leave in the Lynchburg Community.  I urge you to look at these mountains and imagine the footprints you want to leave at Lynchburg through your years here.

These magnificent mountains provide a sense of comfort as I transition into my new college lifestyle.  This place is special to me for many different reasons besides its natural beauty.  It is a place to go when I need to get away and just clear my mind of worries. Also these mountains provide a sense of security and shelter. When I discovered this special place, I was missing my family and friends, and the majestic scene provided a feeling of comfort. When it is foggy and overcast, the mountains are only visible by a fine darker blue line parting the sky from them.  I realized that my family is a lot like these mountains. Even though I cannot always see them, I know they are always there.
